Municipalities assess the WOZ-value of houses (residential properties) and non-residential properties (such as businesses, shops, schools) by menas of an appraisal. The municipality bases its appraisal on the amount that the house or non-residential property yields when soldĀ on January 1 of the previous year. This is called the valuation date (waardepeildatum).

You can object to your WOZ-value. You must do this within 6 weeks after the date stated on your tax assessment. You submit the objection to your municipality.
